Eligibility FAQ
This article will provide additional details to commonly asked questions regarding the Eligibility Report
Set Up
What data do I need to receive the eligibility report?
You'll need your payroll file uploaded and mapped for the engagement, along with the plan document in hand so you can enter the plan provisions accurately. AuditMiner works with payroll data from any provider as long as the file is in a compatible format and the required fields are mapped.
What if my plan does not have an age or service provision?
If the plan has no age requirement or no service requirement, simply leave that field blank. AuditMiner will exclude it from the calculation entirely and indicate as such with an "N/A" in the related section.
Output
How is entry date determined?
AuditMiner applies the entry date provision to the date requirements met. The entry date is always the first of the next period after requirements were met:
- Immediately: the date requirements met
- Monthly: the first of the following month.
- Quarterly: the first of the following quarter.
- Semi-annual: either 7/1 or 1/1, whichever comes next after the date requirements were met.
- Annually: 1/1 of the following year.
Note that AuditMiner shows the calculated entry date even if it falls after the plan year end.
What does a blank result mean in the output?
A blank result means that AuditMiner could not complete the calculation due to a missing or unmapped field.
Why does a participant show as Not Eligible even though they have contributions?
The initial eligibility determination is calculated based on the employee's eligibility as of the date of their first deduction in the plan year. This scenario occurs when the date of first deduction falls before the calculated entry date, meaning contributions were made before the participant was technically eligible to enter the plan and contribute.
